Kyle Schwarber went 1-for-5 with a grand slam in a 9-5 win over the Marlins on Wednesday.

With the Phillies down big early, Schwarber’s blast off Edward Cabrera would give them a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. The grand slam was the seventh of his career and just barely found the seats in left center field, but it counts all the same. The four RBI sent Schwarber up to 16th in the league despite almost always hitting lead-off.

PHI Relief Pitcher #48

Tyler Phillips gave up nine hits and five earned runs across 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday against the Marlins.

The Marlins were all over Phillips here. Three of their first four balls in play were scorched over 103 MPH and they had 12 hard-hit balls in all. Even with that, Phillips was on the mound in the fifth inning with a lead, but was pulled before completing it. This continued an ugly stretch for Phillips with 17 earned runs, five walks, and eight strikeouts in three starts (11 innings) since his complete game shutout against the Guardians.

Trea Turner went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in a loss to the Marlins on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old shortstop is now just 16-for-95 (.168) in 22 games since the All-Star break. He’s also stolen just two bases over that span and has just 14 in 79 games on the season. Injuries have obviously played a part in that, and he will almost certainly find the rhythm with his swing again, but this has been tough timing for a cold stretch for fantasy managers.

PHI Starting Pitcher #99

Taijuan Walker allowed three runs on four hits in four innings in a loss to the Marlins on Tuesday.

Walker did strike out five while posting a solid 27 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW but he also walked three on the day. His velocity was up from his season average and he leaned heavily on the splitter today, but it’s hard to trust him in fantasy right now, even against the Nationals this weekend.

Phillies sent RHP Nick Nelson outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Nelson passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment on Sunday. The 28-year-old righty made only three relief appearances for the Phillies back in April before being shipped to the minors for good.
Ranger Suarez

PHI Starting Pitcher #55

Ranger Suárez (back) faced hitters on Tuesday in a two-inning simulated game.

Suárez will face hitters over the weekend either in another simulated game or in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, which would put him on track to rejoin Philadelphia’s starting rotation mix in the later stages of next week. The 28-year-old lefty has been out since late July due to lower back soreness.

Phillies sent RHP Max Castillo outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Castillo went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last Friday and will stick around as extra organizational relief depth.

Phillies optioned RHP Yunior Marte to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Marte is sent down to make room for Taijuan Walker with Walker coming off the injured list for a start versus the Marlins. Marte will provide depth for the Philadelphia staff at the Triple-A level, and likely will be back before the season comes to a close.

Phillies activated RHP Taijuan Walker off the 15-day injured list.

Walker will come off the injured list to start Tuesday’s game against the Marlins. The 32-year-old has been out since near the end of June with right index finger inflammation. The Marlins make for a friendly first game back for the right-hander, but just keep in mind this is not an elite streaming option before adding him to your lineup.
Alec Bohm

PHI Third Baseman #28

Alec Bohm went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI on Sunday as the Phillies fell to the Diamondbacks in Arizona.

Bohm gave the Phillies an early lead with his two-run double off of Merrill Kelly in the opening inning. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the afternoon though — and the only time that the Phillies would score until the seventh inning. The 28-year-old is having a strong season in the middle of the Phillies’ lineup, slashing .297/.350/.481 with 12 homers, 80 RBI and five stolen bases.
