The Braves announced Wednesday that AJ Minter will undergo surgery on his left hip.

The hip injury has bothered the 30-year-old southpaw off and on for the duration of the season, so after his latest shutdown the team felt it was best to get the issue taken care of surgically. No word yet on a potential timeline for his recovery, but it’s safe to say that his 2024 season is finished.

ATL Relief Pitcher #40

Reynaldo López (forearm) is tentatively expected to rejoin the Braves’ rotation on Tuesday against the Phillies.

The 30-year-old hurler has been shelved since early August due to forearm inflammation, but he looked sharp in his minor league rehab start at Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday and the Braves feel comfortable bringing him back. Fantasy managers shouldn’t have any trepidation about rolling him out against the Phillies next week.

ATL Center Fielder #23

Braves activated OF Michael Harris II from the 60-day injured list.

Harris is back after going 10-for-23 with a homer in six Triple-A games. His return will likely lead to a Jarred Kelenic-Ramón Laureano platoon, with Jorge Soler playing the other corner outfield spot. Adam Duvall is still around, too, and will probably get the occasional start over Harris versus left-handers, at least for now. The Braves aren’t going to want to push Harris too hard after a two-month absence due to a hamstring strain.
Eli White

ATL Left Fielder #36

Braves optioned INF/OF Eli White to Triple-A Gwinnett.

The Braves decided against cutting Adam Duvall with Michael Harris II back, sending down White instead. White has hit .261/.261/.522 in 23 plate appearances for the Braves this season.
Parker Dunshee

Braves designated RHP Parker Dunshee for assignment.

The Braves needed a spot on the 40-man for Michael Harris II, so Dunshee gets bumped five days after being optioned out. He has a nice 2.51 ERA and a 38/13 K/BB in 32 1/3 innings in Triple-A, so another team might want to add him to its bullpen.

ATL First Baseman #10

Yuli Gurriel went 4-for-4 with a double for Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

The 40-year-old Gurriel has spent all season toiling away in Triple-A and has hit .298/.375/.493 with 11 homers and even 10 steals for Gwinnett. The Braves could do worse than carrying him as a pinch-hitting option in September. It’s not like they use their bench anyway.
Travis d'Arnaud

ATL Catcher #16

Travis d’Arnaud homered in the third and delivered a go-ahead single in the 10th as the Braves outlasted the Giants 4-3 on Tuesday.

D’Arnaud also had the go-ahead RBI in the 10th on Monday, delivering a sac fly as a pinch-hitter then. He started tonight and made a big impact again. While d’Arnaud was in quite a rut during May and June, he’s gone 18-for-55 with six homers and 15 RBI since July 10.
Charlie Morton

ATL Starting Pitcher #50

Charlie Morton held the Giants to two runs over six innings in a no-decision Tuesday.

Morton left with a one-run lead, but that was blown in the eighth, partly because of an Austin Riley error. Morton matched his season high with eight strikeouts and walked one. It goes as his 10th quality start in 22 tries.
Raisel Iglesias

ATL Relief Pitcher #26

Raisel Iglesias again pitched a perfect 10th to protect a one-run lead Tuesday versus the Giants.

He threw scoreless ninth and 10th innings Monday for a win then. The Braves used him again tonight in a save situation, and he needed just eight pitches to set down the Giants. We imagine he’ll get Wednesday off now, perhaps creating a save chance for Joe Jiménez.
Ramon Laureano

ATL Center Fielder #18

Ramón Laureano went 2-for-5 with a homer against the Giants in Tuesday’s win.

That Laureano got the nod over Adam Duvall tonight is a clear indication of how the Braves feel about those two right now, and Laureano went on to demonstrate that he was the right choice. The Braves do have the option of sending down Eli White to make room for Michael Harris II on Wednesday, but it looks like Duvall is the leading candidate to get the boot.
